Atlas LabWorks® Interfaces with St. John Hospital and Medical Center's HBOC System

Scripting interface facilitates registration and billing process

Calabasas, CA, May 19, 2004 -- Atlas Medical Software announced recently they have completed an LIS interface between their LabWorks outreach product with Mckesson's HBOC system at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, MI. St. John is part of the seven hospital St. John Health System which is also part of Ascension Healthcare.

As a result of the LabWorks' interface, when physicians who are part of St. John's laboratory outreach program order a patient test in their offices, the patients are automatically registered in the HBOC billing system. Since the majority of St. John's outreach work, over 60 percent, is performed at their core lab, this is big time saver for the hospital. The Atlas system also provides a report to the laboratory telling them whether this is a new event for a previously registered patient or a completely new patient.
